GloRilla Drops Explosive “HOLLON”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

This is the kind of track that will make you want to DDT someone.

Out of all the gangsta women rappers, GloRilla stands out as my favorite. Whenever she jumps on a track, her presence is undeniable—mainly due to her commanding voice and her ability to talk s**t with precision. Glo also leans into that tough, kick-ass era of hip-hop that Memphis helped shape. It’s hard to believe, but GloRilla still hasn’t dropped her debut album yet. “Hollon” seems to be the first single leading up to it, and if it’s any indication, her album will be a force to reckon with.

The first thing that will grab your attention about “Hollon” is definitely the beat—it’s on some heavy, trunk-rattling, brawl-in-the-club that spills out onto the street type s**t. Then, Glorilla’s raw, gritty voice comes in strong, commanding your attention. She keeps it simple with no fancy flows or melodies, just straight-up talking about stomping on her enemies and throwing hands. All in all, this track, which samples DJ Unk’s classic “Hold On Ho,” goes harder than left-out McNuggets.

Does fighting people keep GloRilla alive? I feel like she needs to do that to function properly in society.

It may not be common to describe a Christmas-set, unrated, obscenely grotesque gore-fest as a feel-good movie, but Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 is precisely that.
Thankfully, Olivia Rodrigo was a good sport about it.
