Tory Lanez Releases “Time Away” & “Topless In Miami”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Tory Lanez continues to pump out hits from jail.

There are a lot of high-profile artists in jail right now. Young Thug is serving time, Pooh Shiesty is locked up, and now Diddy is facing major charges for his decades of “freak-offs.” Another artist currently behind bars is Tory Lanez. You wouldn’t be able to tell, though, because he’s been dropping plenty of music from prison. Whether it’s from his Prison Tapes or Lost Tapes, we’ve been lucky to hear his voice frequently over the past few months. Today, Tory released two new songs to the world, “Time Away” and “Topless In Miami.”

In “Time Away,” a track dating back to 2019, we get crooner Tory Lanez at his best. Over an elegant R&B beat with a solid knock, Tory sings about spoiling a girl with everything from cheeseburgers on National Cheeseburger Day to diamonds from Sierra Leone. If you’re a fan of Tory’s high-pitched vocals, this track will definitely hit the spot. Plus, the infectious hook is bound to stick in your head from the first listen.

Crazy s**t happens in Miami—just ask Diddy. In “Topless In Miami,” a track Tory Lanez crafted back in 2016 when things were a bit more normal, he paints a picture of a wild, carefree night with a woman who’s ready to let loose and ditch the t-shirts. While the track might not be my favorite, it undeniably brings some intoxicating, exciting vibes that capture the essence of Miami’s nightlife.

Tory Lanez has more unreleased tracks than Tupac. Damn.
