Daylyt & J. Cole Show Out Over “A Plate Of Collard Greens”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

These collard greens are spicy as hell, too.

One of the biggest winners (and maybe the only winner) in the Kendrick vs. Drake beef was Daylyt. Thanks to his connections with TDE and Dreamville, Daylyt provided some intriguing behind-the-scenes insights into what Kendrick might say next and shared details about J. Cole’s mindset when creating one of his standout projects, Might Delete Later. Notably, Daylyt was featured on one of the best tracks from that project, “Pi.” Last night, the enigmatic rapper returned to the scene with a new track, “A Plate of Collard Greens,” featuring J. Cole.

“A Plate Of Collard Greens” rides on a stripped-down, soulful beat that some might consider bland (though not me). The real flavor comes from Daylyt and J. Cole, who season their verses with depth and intensity. Daylyt kicks things off with a wise, introspective verse, speaking on his untouchable status, buying land, and surviving a major come-up. Despite his laidback delivery, he unpredictably switches up his flow and drops clever wordplay. J. Cole, on the other hand, brings a more assertive energy, reflecting on the dark memories of his childhood. While some might catch potential shots at Drake (like references to Michael Jackson or quitting lean), I encourage listeners to focus on Cole’s intricate, dynamic flow, which carries the track beautifully from start to finish.

This Kendrick vs. Drake beef got y’all overanalyzing more than Tom Brady. Take a chill pill.
