The Revival of the EDM Star—Spoke’s “Sweet Escape”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Spoke’s recent return to music continues with “Sweet Escape.”

EDM artist and producer Spoke has been passionate about his genre since he was a kid in the ’90s—a time when EDM was emerging as a popular new sound. Over the years, Spoke’s sound evolved as he began incorporating his own writing and vocals into his produced tracks, all while staying true to his passion for creating dynamic, danceable anthems. He became a pioneer in the genre after expanding his brand and starting his own record label.

Spoke’s career and popularity took off in the early 2000s, and now he’s returned to music, maintaining his raw, passionate energy. Although he never lost his drive, the pandemic reignited his motivation to dive back into the music scene. He aims to be both inspired and inspirational, using his music to help people escape into bliss. On that note, his new single, Sweet Escape,” was released on September 26. The song explores escapism from a more positive perspective, yearning for that ideal getaway.

I really enjoyed this track. From the very first listen, it felt like an experience, which says a lot because even great songs sometimes take a while to hit their stride. Spoke’s vocals convey a deep sense of emotion, and the sad yet dynamic sound allows listeners to connect with the feeling of desperate sorrow while still dancing or jumping along. Although I wouldn’t consider myself a huge EDM fan, “Sweet Escape” has a strong pop influence that makes it more accessible, even for people like me who are newer to the genre. I highly recommend you listen to “Sweet Escape”—you can find it below.
