Ferg Goes Nuts In “Thought I Was Dead”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Ferg is alive and well.

In the past few months, Ferg has dropped more singles than A$AP Rocky has in the past 10 years. What I think is dope about this is that each of his singles has a unique flair. Today, the Harlem rapper returned to the music scene with yet another banger called “Thought I Was Dead.”

Don’t worry, “Thought I Was Dead” is far from a sad song. In fact, Ferg spends most of it bragging and flexing, speaking on his player lifestyle and determination to thrive in a world that wants to see him fail. The track is split into two parts: the first part features an alert-heavy beat with Ferg delivering multiple flows, including one that sounds strikingly similar to one Kendrick Lamar used in “Euphoria.” The second part switches to a hard-hitting Mike WiLL Made-It beat (the kind Future would’ve absolutely destroyed), with an infectious hook and a hyped-up Ferg. Overall, Ferg overdelivered here.

Ferg is rapping like the rent is due these days.
