Gunna Says He Was “HIM ALL ALONG”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I think it’s safe to say that Gunna came out victorious during his cancellation period.

Gunna has done the unthinkable. Despite facing serious snitching allegations and being blackballed by several rappers—including close friends like Lil Durk and Lil Baby—he’s managed to bounce back, possibly even stronger than before. To me, this shows that his talent as an artist ultimately outweighs the drama. After releasing some impressive guest features and an album that, honestly, I kind of forgot about, Gunna has returned with a victory lap-type single in “HIM ALL ALONG.”

In “HIM ALL ALONG,” Gunna taunts the rappers who hoped for his downfall, emphasizes that achieving his goals is his top priority, and celebrates his successes. He also talks about getting sloppy toppy, but I don’t care. With a smooth Turbo beat backing him, Gunna delivers a performance that feels laid-back yet confident, sliding on the track like the New Orleans Saints are sliding in the power rankings. While there’s nothing groundbreaking about the song, it serves as a solid way for Gunna to wrap up 2024.

Outside of Future and Playboi Carti, Gunna might be the most sought-after rapper in Atlanta right now.
