Conductor Williams Calls On Russ For “Ecstacy (Freestyle)”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Russ is among the few rappers who can handle a Conductor Williams beat.

Conductor Williams is likely the best producer your parents have never heard of; that’s because he crafts some of the grittiest, rawest beats around. His sound has largely been shaped through his work with Griselda’s powerhouse crew, where his grimy production style perfectly complements their rugged lyricism. Additionally, Conductor has steadily built up his solo discography with projects that carry the same signature gritty vibe. Today, he released one of the first singles from his upcoming project, titled “Ecstasy [Freestyle],” featuring Russ.

Ignore everything I said in the first paragraph. Why? Because “Ecstasy (Freestyle)” is an unbelievably smooth track, boasting a soulful, starry beat meant to calm nerves. Over it, Russ delivers his verses, sounding somewhat tender vocally while relying on a consistent flow. Lyrically, he discusses progress being his ecstasy, ignoring price tags, and doing everything he can to be content with where his life is. To me, this is the definition of a short but sweet track.
