Jacquees – Baby Making (Album Review)

Jacquees delivers nothing but sultry R&B bangers in “Baby Making.”

TOP 3

3. Middle Of The Night

These days, the only thing I’m doing in the middle of the night is sipping water or scratching my left ass cheek.

The main reason I added “Middle Of The Night” to this top 3 list is because I love the Timbaland-like production. I also f**k with Jacquees’ complex chorus that revolves around him waking up his chick to get his groove on. What he doesn’t bring up is how she probably accidentally slapped the hell out of him while she was half asleep.

2. Drip

There are two kinds of people in this world: People who don’t mind having bodily fluids on them, and people who do.

In “Drip,” Jacquees talks about leaving his chick messages on her phone, describing everything she needs to do to be allowed in his bedroom. Her not wearing any underwear is one of the rules. The slow-paced track features what I believe is a nasty but catchy chorus, laidback but very impactful vocals, and the perfect vibes to get s**t poppin’.

1. Touchdown

There’s nothing like scoring on or with your chick.

A love song that mixes in sports themes will always be GOATED. That’s precisely what we get in “Touchdown.” Jacquees describes getting it in with his girl on the track, comparing her to his Jeep. As expected, the song has its moments in which it gets explicit as hell, but at the same time, it’s chill, features passionate vocals you can get lost in, and a very hypnotic/infectious chorus.

OVERALL RATING

(C+) (78%)

This album will get ovulation started earlier than usual.

Production:

It’s very simple: Baby Making features extra smooth R&B production. Some beats channel a ’90s vibe, while others step slightly outside that decade. Nonetheless, all of them have timeless qualities to them.

Guest Appearances:

No one is featured on this album. That’s good because I don’t want to hear anyone else go back and forth with Jacquees, given the s**t he mainly talks about.

The Performances:

Jacquees knows precisely who he is: An R&B singer who sings like it’s game 7 in the bedroom every single time. When’s the last time you heard some s**t like this?

What Would I Change About This Album?

I didn’t hear enough talk about condoms being used. Strap it up, folks.

The Biggest Reason You Should Listen To This Album:

If you’re into that late-night, HBO After Dark vibe, Baby Making by Jacquees delivers just that. He fully dives into his romantic desires, amplifying the sensuality throughout the album. This one’s for the R&B heads who enjoy touching the throne.
