Rating: 4 out of 5.Vory seems to be in a better place these days.
Did you know Vory co-wrote Bryson Tiller’s hit “Don’t” and earned a Grammy for his work on Everything Is Love by The Carters? It’s clear his talent has been widely recognized in the industry. However, Vory’s momentum slowed after a personal controversy. Now, he’s returned with a fresh start, dropping a new three-track EP titled Who Don’t Like Me.
The EP opens with “Who Don’t Like Me,” a track featuring a suspenseful, dramatic beat that evolves into some flashy trap s**t. Against this backdrop, Vory asserts his indifference toward those who dislike him, along with rivals who wish him harm. Initially, he delivers emotional vocals that reflect vulnerability, but as the song progresses, his energy ramps up, shifting into a more rapid, intense flow that mirrors his resilience and unapologetic attitude. This dynamic start sets a powerful tone for the EP.
In “Balance,” Vory slows things down over an emotional beat, marked by powerful stomps that would make Kirk Franklin proud. The Louisville artist delves into a complex relationship dynamic, singing about a taken woman who seems interested in him. The track is driven by a captivating chorus, dramatic vocals, and lyrics that feel raw and unapologetically honest.
For fans of Vory’s raw sound, you’ll love “Blood Money.” In this track, Vory and Tracy T exchange verses about their ties to the streets, involvement with illicit money, and readiness for violence. Vory’s delivery remains cold and detached, enhancing the track’s rugged vibe, while Tracy T’s verse flows seamlessly, portraying a character unphased by the harshness of his environment. All in all, “Blood Money” closes this EP perfectly.
