Khalid Seemingly Comes Out

Khalid casually addressed a fan who attempted to out him.

We’re living in a completely different America today. There are so many LGBTQ+ celebrities in the spotlight, and I feel like it’s becoming a little easier for people to come out. That said, there’s still a long way to go regarding full acceptance of the community. It’s especially challenging for established artists to come out, as many still fear being blackballed or experiencing backlash.

Khalid, an artist who has been open about his identity for a while and has several tracks with over a billion streams on Spotify, recently came out publicly in the most casual way. Responding to a tweet that read, “Wait, hope Mr. Khalid isn’t GEHHHH!” he simply replied, “I am! And that’s okay.” He later followed up with, “There y’all go. Next topic, please lol.”

Further confirming his orientation, Khalid released the following statement:

“I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me.

Has my opinion on Khalid changed? Absolutely not. I still think he’s an incredible artist with a career that’s criminally underrated (as I mentioned earlier, he has seven tracks on Spotify with over a billion streams). In fact, I always had a feeling he might be gay. I’m just glad he could share his truth so casually and move on with his day—exactly how it should be for everyone.
