Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Secures the Top Spot on Complex’s Top 10 Albums Chart

Kendrick Lamar has more championships than Bill Russell right now.

Kendrick Lamar might be experiencing the greatest year ever for a rapper. He released a chart-topping album that has dominated conversations across the music industry and is already predicted to win a Grammy for “Not Like Us.” On top of that, he’s gearing up to headline the Super Bowl halftime show and preparing for a highly anticipated stadium tour. Beyond these major milestones, Kendrick has also been recognized with numerous accolades from various platforms, including Complex, which recently added another honor to his already monumental year.

Today, Complex officially named Kendrick Lamar’s GNX as their album of the year. The project outperformed notable competition, including Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, Future and Metro Boomin’s collaborative WE DON’T TRUST YOU, Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal, and Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA.

I love Kendrick Lamar’s GNX with all my heart, but I don’t think I’m ready to crown it as album of the year. In my opinion, Doechii’s album, Q’s album, Billie Eilish’s album, and Tyler’s album were stronger contenders. However, when you consider which album was the most impactful, polarizing, and game-changing, I can understand why GNX topped the list. All in all, I’m not upset with the ranking. Watch what we pick as album of the year, though!

Do you believe GNX is the album of the year?
