A new music feud perhaps?
Is Oliver Anthony vs Beyoncé going to be the next Drake vs Kendrick? Probably not, but it seems like the country singer is not at all a fan of Beyoncé.
In a Youtube video posted by Anthony posted “What I’ve Learned from the Music Industry So Far…,” Anthony trashes Beyonce’s album Cowboy Carter, he says “One of the guys I worked with, he wanted me to make some stupid f**king post about Beyonce’s country album. About how it was good… even though it was complete trash. It makes me just want to throw up, trying to listen the beginning of her version of Jolene.”
The young star continues on, saying “I was supposed to make a post… basically trying to associate myself with Beyonce in hopes of us doing some kind of song together. How many people do that? How many artists do you follow on social media that have never even looked at their social media and you are just reading words and posts and things that were written by somebody you’ve never even met that aren’t the artist?”
In short, I don’t think we should expect a collab anytime soon. Beyoncé hasn’t really said anything about the country singer’s harsh review. While Anthony didn’t like the star’s cover of Jolene, Dolly Parton (the original singer in case you didn’t know) gave a Beyoncé a pretty glowing review, stating “Well, I think it was very bold of her. When they said she was gonna do ‘Jolene’ I was expecting it to be my regular one, but it wasn’t. But I love what she did to it, as a songwriter you love the fact that people do your songs no matter how he do ’em.”
