Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre Sample Song By Learning Disabilities Charity | RGM News

A welcome but obscure pick!

Daylight Studio, a small London-based charity supporting people with learning disabilities, was stunned to discover that their song Watermelon Fantasy had been sampled by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre in their track Outta Da Blue, featured on the duo’s latest album, Missionary.

The charity is overjoyed to hear their humble song featured on such a monumental album, sharing on their website: “A track made by learning-disabled artists from Daylight Studio was recently sampled by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre on Outta Da Blue (Missionary). As our debut release, this track was the very inspiration behind the creation of our charity.”

Tina Bruins, one of the artists featured on the track, also shared her excitement: “It was a good shock because it sort of proves I make good music,” she said. “I’m proud of Watermelon Fantasy because Snoop Dogg took it over.”

Dr. Dre appears to have introduced listeners to a potential new favorite, as evidenced by YouTube comments praising the track. One user remarked, “Okay, this grew on me. I have it stuck in my head now and like it. Smart pick by Dre.” Another added, “Talking bout digging in the crates… Dre is still an avant-garde producer.”

Fans seem genuinely surprised that Dre chose such an obscure song to sample, and I have to agree—it’s a deep cut, but I’m all for it. It’s always amazing how one song or album can introduce you to something entirely new, especially something you’ve never heard of before. Broadening your musical horizons like this is one of the best parts of discovering new music.
