Memphis Bleek Shines in His Triumphant Comeback on “3 Kings” with Benny The Butcher & Smoke DZA

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Wow, I haven’t heard Memphis Bleek rap in 20 years.

Memphis Bleek is a name that might not resonate with younger generations, but for those who witnessed his prime (albeit brief), he was a force to be reckoned with, delivering sharp bars and memorable tracks. Emerging as Jay-Z’s protégé, Bleek left his mark with hits like “Is That Your Chick,” “Memphis Bleek Is…,” and “Like That.”

After stepping back from the spotlight for several years, Bleek re-entered the hip-hop scene in 2023 and 2024 with singles like “Bands Up” and “Durag Bleek.” On Friday, he continued his resurgence with a new release, “3 Kings,” featuring Benny The Butcher and Smoke DZA.

In “3 Kings,” Memphis Bleek calls out those exaggerating their drug-dealing stats while flaunting the money he’s been raking in. He also takes a moment to pay homage to his home borough, Brooklyn. Bleek’s confidence shines through as he spits with conviction, effortlessly delivering hard-hitting punchlines. While his style has evolved over the years, he still sounds like a solid and capable rapper.

Once Benny The Butcher steps in, the song transforms into a quintessential Benny track. The regal production takes on a Griselda-inspired edge, perfectly complementing his boastful bars about his drug-dealing past and relentless competitive drive. Smoke DZA closes things out with a gritty verse, weaving vivid details into the ongoing drug-dealing theme. All in all, I am a fan of this street-inspired banger.

I didn’t have Memphis Bleek dropping the hardest track of 2025 on my bingo card.
