Travis Scott is back with a new single.

Earlier this week, Travis Scott appeared on top of the ATL Mercedes Benz Stadium during the Ohio State and Notre Dame championship game to debut his new single, “4X4.” The rapper performed the song during the halftime show and announced that the official release date was today. He also noted that all proceeds from the specialized merchandise accompanying the single would be donated to Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response Fund, which helps communities affected by devastating wildfires.

“4X4” officially dropped at midnight, and in my honest opinion, it’s a radio song. You can take that however you want to.

The single has a good beat. It had me nodding my head and bopping along to it, don’t get me wrong. But (respectfully), it felt a little basic to me. It left me waiting for a plot twist that never came. I expected a sudden beat drop, a crazy flow change, or something—anything—that would keep me on my toes. Alas, aside from a couple of catchy bars and minor changes, “4X4” never really gave me what I was looking for.

It’s a good song. “4X4” is catchy; I could dance to it, and it’s so easy to start singing along to. It’s for a great cause, and even if it weren’t, I can definitely still see it becoming a hit. But is it Travis Scott’s best work?
