This song is kind of dreamy.

Bryant Barnes released his newest single, “Why Can’t You,” on January 17th. This song made me feel like I was floating on a cloud. The soft, uplifting music evoked a sense of nostalgia. When you pair that with the sugary-sweet lyrics and Barnes’ smooth, deep register, it feels like stepping into a dreamland.

“Why Can’t You” is a song about falling in love with someone who believes they are incapable of loving in return. The singer opens his heart to this person, expressing his feelings while hoping they will be willing to try and reciprocate. Much like his track “Adore You,” this song explores the challenges of caring deeply for someone who seems emotionally unavailable or closed off.

Despite the light beats and happy sound of the track, this is one of those songs that has a sadder, deeper meaning under a happy facade. Bryant Barnes does a good job portraying his emotions while keeping a lighter tone.
