Rating: 3.5 out of 5.So, I guess Dej Loaf is a full-blown R&B artist now, huh?
Dej Loaf is often overlooked for her impact on bridging the gap between R&B and hip-hop, seamlessly blending the two genres in a way many artists have followed. While she doesn’t drop music frequently, her influence remains undeniable. On the other hand, Jacquees, the self-proclaimed “King of R&B,” has also been relatively low-key but made a comeback with his album Baby Making late last year.
Now, the two artists have reunited for their latest collaboration, “Favorite One,” which many believe will appear on the highly anticipated sequel to F**k A Friend Zone.
To be completely honest, “Favorite One” doesn’t offer much in terms of depth. Lyrically, Dej Loaf and Jacquees deliver standard lines about their partners being their go-to choice, without pushing any creative boundaries. Dej keeps her signature mellow sing-rap delivery, while Jacquees sticks to his usual smooth R&B style.
However, the real standout of the track is the production. The beat carries a rich, ‘90s-inspired R&B sound, which adds a nostalgic charm that’s hard to resist.
