Halle Drops “Back and Forth”

This is one of the realest love songs I’ve heard in a minute.

Halle Bailey dropped her new single, “Back and Forth,” on the 12th of February, and it is so refreshing. The song depicts realistic struggles when it comes to falling or being in love with someone, especially if that someone has been hurt in past relationships.

The lyrics attached to the song explore the highs and lows (or the back and forth) of her relationship. One moment, Halle’s partner pulls away from her due to fears rooted in past traumas. Then, Halle reassures them, and they talk through it. An argument flares up one second, and the next, they are making love.

“Back and Forth” is a soft, slow R&B track with light beats that remind me of a few lo-fi songs. Halle’s voice is gentle but powerful, and the music gives the single a sensitive, fragile tone. This is a good song to relate to when it feels like you and a loved one aren’t on the same page.
