This is one of the realest love songs I’ve heard in a minute.

Halle Bailey dropped her new single, “Back and Forth,” on February 12th, and it is so refreshing. The song depicts realistic struggles when it comes to falling or being in love with someone, especially if that someone has been hurt in past relationships.

The song’s lyrics delve into the emotional ups and downs of Halle’s relationship. At times, her partner withdraws due to lingering past traumas, but she offers reassurance, leading to open conversations. One moment, tensions rise in an argument; the next, they find solace in each other’s arms.

“Back and Forth” is a smooth, slow-burning R&B track with delicate beats reminiscent of lo-fi melodies. Halle’s vocals are both tender and powerful, giving the song an intimate, fragile quality. It’s the perfect track to resonate with when you and a loved one seem out of sync.
