Kendrick Lamar Makes History as First Rapper to Hit 100 Million Monthly Spotify Listeners

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are currently exchanging lead changes.

Kendrick Lamar has reached another historic milestone—he has officially become the first rapper to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, joining an elite group of just nine artists worldwide to achieve this feat.

Unlike many high-streaming artists known for mainstream, radio-friendly hits, Kendrick Lamar’s music has often been considered more introspective and complex—making his record-breaking streaming numbers even more remarkable. While artists like The Weeknd, who also boasts over 100 million Spotify listeners, create replay-heavy tracks, Lamar’s success proves that depth and storytelling still resonate on a massive scale.

Lamar kicked off February with a major win, taking home five Grammy Awards for his smash hit “Not Like Us.” Just a week later, on February 9, he performed at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, shattering viewership records. Following this, multiple songs from his GNX album landed in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, while the album itself reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

With “Not Like Us” still dominating the charts and GNX continuing to break records, fans are eager to see what King Kendrick does next. Could another project be on the way? One thing is certain—Kendrick Lamar is proving that authenticity and raw talent still lead the industry.

Stay tuned for more updates on Kendrick Lamar’s groundbreaking year!
