5. Dreaming
I feel like Jacquees is entirely in his bag in “Dreaming.”
As expected, “Dreaming” delivers a smooth, dreamy R&B vibe. The track is driven by a shimmering instrumental with a solid knock and an engaging tempo. Jacquees leans on his signature melodies and soulful vocals to express how his love interest constantly occupies his thoughts—both thrilling and overwhelming for him. DeJ Loaf complements his performance, adding a touch of spice and edge as a subtle yet impactful backing presence. Overall, the song effortlessly pulls you in, creating an immersive listening experience.
4. Bad For Me
Wait, is this a drill love song?
One of the standout elements of this project is its smooth and consistent R&B instrumentals. However, “Bad For Me” completely disrupts that trend with an easygoing drill beat—one that feels more suited for someone like Fivio Foreign than an R&B duo. Yet, Jacquees steps up to the challenge, delivering his most passionate vocals as he sings about a fiery romance with someone who knows how to keep things exciting.
While Jacquees thrives on the track, DeJ Loaf’s contributions feel a bit incomplete, making her presence less impactful than expected. Still, “Bad For Me” stands out as a bold experiment that might not be for everyone but is unique enough to appreciate.
3. Back Door
Jacquees and DeJ Loaf started this album 3/3.
I highly recommend closing your eyes while listening to “Back Door.” Set against a silky smooth, bedroom-ready backdrop, Jacquees and DeJ Loaf paint a vivid picture of a late-night rendezvous—one that’s bound to get steamy. What stands out most is Jacquees’ irresistibly sensual and unforgettable chorus, setting the perfect tone for the track. Meanwhile, DeJ Loaf turns up the heat, fully embracing her seductive side as she dives deep into her desires. The result? A sultry, intimate vibe that lingers long after the song ends.
2. Favorite One
Telling your lover, “You are my favorite one,” is lowkey disrespectful.
To be completely honest, “Favorite One” doesn’t offer much in terms of depth. Lyrically, Dej Loaf and Jacquees deliver standard lines about their partners being their go-to choices without pushing any creative boundaries. Dej keeps her signature mellow sing-rap delivery, while Jacquees sticks to his usual smooth R&B style.
However, the real standout of the track is the production. The beat carries a rich, ‘90s-inspired R&B sound, which adds a nostalgic charm that’s hard to resist.
1. Just Another Love Song
S**t, I don’t get tired of love songs.
I absolutely love that Jacquees and DeJ Loaf decided to kick off this album with a pure, classic R&B vibe. “Just Another Love Song” delivers everything you want in a timeless love track—a slow-paced beat that sets the mood, a mesmerizing and intoxicating chorus that sticks with you, and heartfelt lyrics about falling hard for someone you deeply connect with.
Jacquees sets the tone with his signature silky-smooth, laidback vocals, perfectly complementing the track’s dreamy production. But it’s DeJ Loaf who adds that extra edge, bringing her cold, effortlessly playa style. She rides the beat with a cool, understated confidence, making the song feel even more dynamic.
SONG-BY-SONG RATING
RGM RATING
(75%)
I wonder how many babies were conceived to this album—my guess is around 17,000.
There’s no debate—R&B is dead. But every now and then, a few artists manage to breathe life back into it, even if just for a moment. Jacquees is one of them. His vocals and approach to the genre feel as authentic and passionate as it gets. He stays true to classic R&B, often tapping into ‘90s-inspired production that gives his music a timeless feel. On this album, ‘Quees absolutely delivers—his melodies are top-tier, his vocals are extra sensual, and he leans fully into themes of romance and late-night encounters. I’d give his performance an A.
DeJ Loaf, on the other hand, is more hit-or-miss. At times, she doesn’t quite match the intensity needed to make an R&B track truly shine. But there’s something about her laid-back, almost detached rap style that adds a raw, unfiltered edge—similar to the energy some bring to the bedroom.
All in all, Fuck A Friendzone 2 is a solid listen for those who appreciate smooth, seductive R&B bangers.
