Benny The Butcher & Conway The Machine – The Pre-Game (Review)

Rating: 4 out of 5.

America’s deadliest duo is back together.

We should all want balance in the world, right? That said, for every sugary or emotional hip-hop record we receive from an artist, we should also want something gritty as hell. While we’ve gotten plenty of the former, Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher—two of the grittiest rappers known to man—decided to give us some of the latter. Overnight, the duo released a new two-pack called The Pre-Game. As expected, neither of the tracks features music you can smile to.

The Pre-Game starts off with “36 Ounces and a Mercedes,” an extra smooth track with old-school production that your grandparents might love. While Benny The Butcher raps with a style that’s calmer than usual, he still touches on struggle, hustling, dealing drugs, and dreaming big. Overall, I think the track makes for an interesting listening experience.

“Pick A Side” sounds more like the s**t you’re used to hearing from Griselda. First and foremost, the track features one of those chilling beats the group usually f**ks with. Over it, Conway The Machine delivers a hard-hitting verse that reminds us how ruthless he is when confronting his opps and getting in a girl’s guts. I prefer this track over the other one, but both are pretty solid.

I’m so glad DOGE hasn’t cut anyone from Griselda.
