Wow, they got Cardi B messing with some blue people.
DJ Khaled and Cardi B may be known for their larger-than-life personalities, but their music drops have been sporadic. That’s changing for Khaled, who is gearing up for a new album—though it likely won’t feature Drake (unless it’s Drake Bell). Meanwhile, Cardi B has been active with collaborations, but a full project remains uncertain. Over the weekend, the two linked up for “Higher Love,” a new track featuring Natania and Subhi from the upcoming “Smurfs” movie.
“Higher Love” flips the classic “Heaven Is a Place on Earth,” with Indian singers Natania and Subhi delivering the iconic hook. The track, produced by DESI TRILL, carries a bubbly, cartoonish energy fitting for a kids’ film. DJ Khaled, who has expressed excitement about the collaboration due to his childhood love for the Smurfs, brings his signature hyped-up ad-libs, while Cardi B delivers an assertive verse about confidence and wanting something real.
While the track is fun and kid-friendly, it may not be a repeat listen for everyone (Definitely not for me). Check out “Higher Love” and see if it becomes your next guilty pleasure.
