Kanye West and Lil Durk Share Heartfelt Phone Call Amid Durk’s Incarceration

Ye and Durk had a very organic conversation recently.

Doesn’t it feel like Chicago has two sides? While Kanye West’s upbringing in the Midwest city is well-documented, many forget that Lil Durk hails from the same place—just from a grittier area. Despite their different backgrounds, the two share a strong connection. Not only have they collaborated on music, but they also appear to be in frequent contact. Recently, Ye and Lil Durk, who is currently incarcerated, spoke on the phone, and their conversation felt incredibly authentic.

In a two-minute clip circulating on social media Saturday, Ye can be seen and heard speaking with Lil Durk. They discuss Durk’s well-being, Kanye’s upcoming album, André 3000’s verse from “Life of the Party,” Ye’s conversation with Diddy, and more. Lil Durk sounds in good spirits, which is reassuring for fans.

Kanye West Chops It Up With Lil Durk

This is exactly why it’s hard to hate Kanye West. While he has had controversial moments—including wearing highly offensive attire—he also has moments where he comes across as a genuine person who deeply cares about his peers and the culture he has influenced. Hearing him chop it up with Durk in such an organic way was truly heartwarming.
