Coastal’: A Behind-the-Scenes Journey Directed by Daryl Hannah
Neil Young is an icon that is no stranger to being mentioned on this site, and is also no stranger to film, starting with his first documentary, Journey Through the Past, released back in 1973. Now, filmmaker and actor Daryl Hannah (who also happens to be Neil Young’s wife), alongside producer Gary Ward, is releasing a new documentary titled Coastal. This film provides an up-close and intimate view of Young’s 2023 West Coast tour.
It’s going to be the first time I play in front of anybody in almost four years, I’m petrified,” the star says in a clip from the trailer.
The film originally premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival last year and features clips and behind-the-scenes footage of the star’s return to the stage after the pandemic. It is set to premiere on April 17th in select theaters. With Young’s extensive catalog, I’m not surprised he’s the subject of so many documentaries, and frankly he deserves them all.
