Playboi Carti’s “I AM MUSIC” Shatters Records With 139.3M Spotify Streams on Day One

I think it’s safe to say that people enjoyed “I AM MUSIC.”

Yesterday morning, Playboi Carti finally delivered one of the most anticipated albums in hip-hop history: I AM MUSIC (titled MUSIC on streaming platforms). After years of teasing and leaks, the album’s surprise drop sent shockwaves through the industry—and the numbers prove it was worth the wait.

According to Spotify, I AM MUSIC racked up a staggering 139.3 million first-day streams, making it the seventh-biggest debut in streaming history. To put that into perspective, Carti now ranks alongside icons like Adele, Beyoncé, Drake, and Taylor Swift—an elite tier of global music dominance.

On top of that, Playboi Carti was the most-streamed artist on Spotify yesterday, surpassing heavyweights like Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift.

The album boasts an impressive lineup of guest features, including Kendrick Lamar, Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, and Jhené Aiko. But even beyond the collaborations, Carti holds his own with standout solo tracks like “CRANK,” “HBA,” and “EVIL J0RDAN.”

While opinions on the project may vary, one thing is clear: I AM MUSIC is a massive success, both in numbers and impact.
