Drake Says New Solo Album Is On the Way — And It “Slaps”

Could we be getting a Drake album this summer?

Drake has to be feeling good right now. After a wave of critics inexplicably wrote him off following his beef with Kendrick Lamar, he’s bounced back in a big way. Not only did he score a No. 1 album alongside PARTYNEXTDOOR with $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, but one of the project’s standout tracks, “NOKIA,” is racking up some major numbers. Needless to say, there are quite a few people wiping egg off their faces. And that egg might just keep coming after what he said yesterday.

While on stream with Adin Ross, Drake, in the most casual way possible, revealed that he’s working on a new solo album—and according to him, it “slaps.” Adin’s response? Just a quick “Already,” but the reaction online has been way louder. This would be Drake’s first solo album since For All The Dogs in 2023 (and yeah, it’s hard to even say that title now without hearing Kendrick’s “LIKE THAT” diss echoing in your head).

If there’s one thing we can expect from a 2025 Drake project, it’s that he’s going to lean into what he does best: moody melodies, introspective raps, a few slick sneak disses, probably a jab or two at Joe Budden, and some beat switches just to keep you on your toes. But the more intriguing part of this new album might be the guest list—or lack thereof. Drake has always collaborated with a wide range of artists, but lately, that list of collaborators seems to be shrinking thanks to a few very public fallouts.

Could this next album be a more personal, mostly solo effort? Or will Drake still find a way to stack the tracklist with features no one saw coming? Either way, the anticipation just got real. Drake’s back in album mode, and if his word is anything to go by, it’s going to be a slapper.
