Out The Matrix has become one of my favorite collectives.
If you’re someone who values substance in music, Out The Matrix is a collective you need to have on your radar. Based in Fayetteville, this group is committed to raising “mass consciousness” through hip-hop—and it shows in everything they do. With a focus on meaningful lyrics, hard-hitting production, and artistic authenticity, they consistently deliver tracks that feel both thoughtful and raw. Their latest work? A standout track called “Abundance” from Wulf Morpheus’ new five-track EP, Reloaded.
On “Abundance,” Jtee The Prophet and Starseed Dro spill heavy truths over an emotional, almost weeping instrumental crafted by Wulf Morpheus. The contrast is striking: the beat is soft and soulful, but the verses come packed with grit. Both artists speak candidly about overcoming rough upbringings, smoking as a coping mechanism, and maintaining a competitive edge in a world that’s often unforgiving. The hunger in their delivery is palpable, and it creates a striking juxtaposition with the beat’s mellow vibe.
While “Abundance” hits with intensity, it’s also incredibly cohesive. From the raw verses to the clean production, everything works together to make a track that’s both thought-provoking and sonically addictive. This is the kind of music that makes you feel something and think deeper—and that’s a rare combo.
