Aminé – 13 Months of Sunshine (Album Preview)

Aminé is one of my favorite artists to listen to today. He can rap his ass off but, at the same time, isn’t afraid to experiment or show off his quirky side. That said, in 13 Months of Sunshine, Aminé goes as left-field as he’s ever gone, testing how loyal his true fans really are.

2. Familiar

Though the track is short and sweet, clocking in at just 1:47, Aminé makes every second count. He delivers playful and intimate lyrics about wanting to spend all his free time with his partner. I can only assume his partner’s booty is squishy and she doesn’t try to make trash jokes.

Musically, the song thrives on its fun, funky beats and infectious rhythm. Overall, it has a unique and playful sound that makes you want to hit repeat. My only complaint? It’s too damn short! These good, sappy vibes deserve a longer runtime, dammit.

1. Arc de Triomphe

On “Arc de Triomphe,” Aminé is clearly having fun. The track rides an upbeat, infectious house beat, setting the perfect stage for his animated, unpredictable style. Lyrically, he’s all over the place in the best way—rapping about shaking dreads like Jesus Christ, flexing on the competition, chasing baddies, repping his hometown of Portland, and asserting himself as a true MC.

What makes the track work so well is his delivery. Rather than shifting tones or playing to the high-energy beat, Aminé keeps things cool and numb-toned, creating a playful contrast that enhances his frantic flow and punchline-heavy bars.
