Young Thug Makes Triumphant Return With Future-Assisted Single “Money on Money”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Young Thug and Future = Super Mario and Luigi of hip-hop.

YOUNG THUG IS OFFICIALLY BACK! Late last night, while many were deep in REM sleep, Thugger dropped a single titled “Money on Money,” featuring his longtime collaborator Future. The track marks Young Thug’s first official release since being released from jail—and the good news is, it doesn’t disappoint.

There’s a noticeable edge to Thug’s performance this time around. He sounds clear, focused, and sharp—I’m assuming that’s because he’s sober now. On “Money on Money,” Thug wastes no time calling out the rats he refuses to associate with, flexes his designer drip, and gives props to the women who hold him down. He even references the hyenas in his circle—ones we imagine he assures his DA are literal animals.

Though the chorus isn’t traditionally catchy, it’s delivered with conviction and urgency. Thug’s punchy, energetic rap style feels both excited and slightly anxious, like someone eager to reclaim his throne.

Future enters the track as the beat shifts into a more militant groove. His verse is raw and grungy, filled with bars about rolling with 21 killers, showing love to his “twin” Thugger, and spending time with “eaters” (Eaters is such a sick-ass way to describe people).

All in all, “Money on Money” feels like a statement: Young Thug is back like cooked crack.
