TOP 5

5. Taste

This song has been stuck in my head since the single dropped.

I did a full song review on this single previously, but even after listening to the full album I feel that this single belongs in the top 5. Taste is incredibly catchy and feels almost familiar, especially considering the fact that it samples Brittany Spears’ popularly known songToxic. This track gives a good amount of nasty and seductive without being too much or going overboard. I’d totally blast this song in the car.

4. Hit You Where It Hurts

This song hit me where it hurts, honestly.

This is definitely a breakup song. The whole track is about revenge and wanting to hurt someone who has been continually hurting you emotionally. In the song, Coco is singing about a person who has been playing mind games and messing with her emotions for a long time. She is to the point where she’s finally Ike, “What if I did all this to you?” The track is emotional and real, giving listeners a new point of view on a common situation.

3. Keep It Quiet

We started the album out with a banger.

“Keep It Quiet” opens the album and really starts it off right. It is upbeat, relatable and a total ear worm. It gives off total bad b***h energy and sets the bar high for the rest of the track list. This song made me want to dance and drew me in, making me excited for the next tracks and all the other ones that follow. The track’s definitely danceable, and it shows off Coco’s soulful voice very well.

2. Here We Go (Uh Oh)

Have you ever been done with someone, only for them to come back?

“Here We Go” is a track about wanting someone who doesn’t want the same thing. So, you start moving on, and it’s only after you’ve met someone else that they’re wanting what you had wanted before. This person has been on Coco’s mind when they shouldn’t be anymore, and she is trying to move on but it’s hard when he is over here calling her phone and liking her posts. She wants to be happy with someone else, but this person has his grip on her and keeps pulling her attention back to him. It’s complicated, messy, and keeps happening again and again.

1. Why Not More? (Feat. YG Marley)

The title track brings a whole different energy to the album.

“Why Not More?” Is the title track of the album, and for good reason. The R&B and reggae infused track featuring YG Marley is one that you’ll want to remember. This love song brings good, mellow vibes and romantic lyrics. The track talks about being treated well and being domestic with someone you’re not officially with, and asking yourself why not make it something more? Why not push it farther?

Honorable Mention- Most Beautiful Design (Feat. Future & London On Da Track)

This track honestly feels so floaty and sensual. The whole song is about women- claiming them as the most beautiful design God made and talking about their body, their movement, their minds. This smooth, classic sounding R&B track will make you feel both beautiful and empowered.

RGM RATING

Coco Jones’ new album “Why Not More” brings nothing but good vibes and goosebumps. This album is so easy to listen to, with most of the track list bringing a blend of slow, emotional r&b and smooth hip hop beats. I can imagine a lot of these songs on the radio, not just the singles, because they are so catchy and gentle on the ears.

The album talks a lot about relationships. There are a few break up anthems that I couldn’t see myself screaming with the girlies, but there’s also songs about flirting, falling in love, and all the ups and downs in between. Coco Jones pours her thoughts and her feelings into these tracks, making them feel relatable and personable. This is one of the best albums I’ve listened to in a while.
