Tee Grizzley > Stevie Wonder.
Tee Grizzley is one of the most consistent voices in rap—so consistent, in fact, that listening to his albums can sometimes feel like déjà vu. Fans know what to expect: gritty Detroit production, real-life street stories, and no-frills, steady-flow delivery. But with his upcoming album, Grizzley seems to be shaking up his formula.
On his latest single, “My God,” Tee steps out of his comfort zone more than ever before. The track finds him reflecting on his past, including heartfelt advice from friends and family urging him to escape street life, as well as his journey from struggle to survival. While the lyrics don’t necessarily break new thematic ground, it’s the sonic transformation that makes this record hit different.
The production is surprisingly soulful, complete with emotional background vocals and a heartfelt instrumental that bleeds passion. Even more unexpected? Tee flexes his vocal chops, singing with raw emotion that makes the pain in his words feel deeply personal. It’s a far cry from his usual bruising delivery.
