Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Dominates 2025 Album Sales Charts Despite Releasing in Late 2024

We’re halfway through 2025, and somehow, the year’s best-selling album isn’t even from this year.

We’re almost halfway through the 2025 calendar year (which is wild to think about), and while this year hasn’t delivered many standout albums in hip-hop, there have been moments worth noting. Apparently, music buyers feel the same way, because the top-selling album of 2025 so far is actually a release from last year.

According to Chart Data, GNX still reigns supreme as the best-selling album of 2025. Although the project officially dropped in November 2024, it’s maintained strong momentum into the new year, dominating streaming numbers and physical sales alike. That late-year release date makes its 2025 performance impressive—but not entirely surprising.

Coming in behind GNX is Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, while SZA’s SOS (another late 2024 release) sits comfortably at number three. Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem lands at fourth, with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet rounding out the top five.

Other notable entries include $ome $exy $ongs 4 U at number seven and Playboi Carti’s long-awaited Music at number ten.

Is GNX still in your rotation? If so, you’re clearly not alone—the numbers speak for themselves.
