Lil Yachty’s been killing s**t since he cut his hair.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Lil Yachty is one of the most important artists in hip-hop today. When he experiments, he goes way more left-field than most of the artists who claim they’re experimental, and he’s been doing an impressive job balancing collaborations with both legends and rising stars.
While I wouldn’t call his 2025 quiet, he has yet to drop a major project—but that might be changing soon. In the meantime, Yachty’s been feeding fans with a string of singles, the latest being “Murda.”
Easily, my favorite thing about “Murda” is the beat. It’s wavy, laced with soul, and hits just hard enough to leave its mark in the rap space. Yachty taps into his more traditional rap bag here, delivering bars with the kind of swagger that reminds you why people consider him one of the coolest to touch a mic. He also talks his sh*t early and often—flexing about his cash, sipping dirty drinks, and bodying the competition without breaking a sweat.
If you ask me (and b*tch, someone in the corner just did), this might be Yachty’s best solo drop of the year.
