5. Lonely
As the title suggests, “Lonely” captures a moment in Little Simz’s life marked by isolation and self-doubt. On this deeply personal track, she openly questions everything—from her career to her sense of identity—allowing listeners into a raw and reflective headspace.
What makes the song so compelling is how Simz transitions from vulnerability to self-reliance. She starts off sounding lost, searching for meaning and external validation. But as the track progresses, she comes to the realization that she doesn’t need anyone else to define her worth—she’s enough on her own.
It’s a powerful statement wrapped in introspective lyricism and understated production. What really stands out is how Simz balances openness and strength, letting herself be seen without losing her edge. This is Little Simz at her most human—and most resilient.
4. Lotus
“Lotus” opens with a near-gospel-like intro—lush vocals layered over a rich, textured beat that instantly sets a spiritual tone. The collaboration between Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, and Yussef Dayes is nothing short of magical, weaving soul, jazz, and rap into one of the most emotionally resonant tracks on the project.
Lyrically, the song cuts deep. Simz lays bare the often unseen, emotional weight of fame, exposing the pain and intrusion that come with being in the public eye. She speaks candidly about how the public feels entitled to dissect her life, critique her artistry, and assume they know her—without ever truly seeing her.
But “Lotus” isn’t just a lament—it’s also an act of empowerment. Simz pushes back against the disrespect and digital toxicity, asserting her voice and value with unwavering strength. It’s a bold, beautiful track that reminds us fame isn’t always glamorous—and that resilience is its own kind of artistry.
3. Enough
“Enough” is a bass-heavy, upbeat standout that pulses with confidence and movement. It’s impossible not to sway or nod your head along—this track practically demands motion.
Little Simz steps fully into her power here, delivering unapologetic lyrics that radiate self-respect, resilience, and Black girl magic. With lines that assert her identity as an “electric Black girl” who refuses to be disrespected, she gives us the kind of fiery, “I am that b—” energy that defines a true empowerment anthem.
What makes it hit even harder is how natural it feels. There’s no forced bravado—just authentic self-celebration from an artist who knows exactly who she is. I’m 100% here for this kind of fearless confidence in music, especially when it’s delivered with this much style and rhythm.
2. Blood
The storytelling in “Blood” is nothing short of masterful. Told as an emotional phone call between estranged siblings, the song explores the painful fallout between two people who once shared everything. One chased fame and success, the other held onto loyalty and family. That tension unfolds through raw, honest verses that carry the weight of years of misunderstanding and hurt.
What makes this track truly powerful is its vulnerability. The brother eventually opens up about the heavy price of fame—loneliness, addiction, abuse, and deep-rooted trauma. Despite the resentment and blame that surface throughout their exchange, there’s an undeniable thread of love and care that remains. In the end, both siblings realize that support from each other is still what they need most.
This is a beautiful story, told with empathy and nuance. The sparse production gives the lyrics space to breathe, proving that sometimes, less really is more. There’s no need for an overbearing beat or dramatic melody—just two voices reconnecting through pain and truth.
1. Thief
“Thief” is a standout track that starts with a slow burn and builds into something explosive. Anchored by a heavy, gripping bass riff (which I loved), the song delivers an almost cinematic vibe—something about the verses gives off subtle Mission Impossible energy, with a sleek, suspenseful rhythm that makes your head rock.
But don’t let the production fool you—beneath the infectious beat is a raw and vulnerable story. Little Simz opens up about betrayal in her career: being used for clout, manipulated, emotionally abused, and taken advantage of by people who saw her as a means to their own end. Her lyricism cuts deep, even while the music keeps things moving.
This track is the perfect clash of swagger and sincerity—a reminder that Simz can keep things fun while still spilling hard truths.

Little Simz is a UK rapper who has carved out a powerful presence in the global hip-hop scene through her honest, layered lyricism and fearless storytelling. Drawing influence from legends like Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott, she blends introspection with confidence, earning multiple awards across a discography that explores identity, growth, and resilience. Lotus, her sixth studio album, continues that tradition. While I’m not personally drawn to the poetry-slam feel of a few tracks, I still deeply appreciate the raw authenticity, strength, and clarity of message that runs through her music.
