Logic definitely looks black in the picture up top.
Logic has been relentless this year. He’s practically dropped a new single every week, and on top of that, he’s gearing up to release a movie he both stars in and produced. But in a world that’s already chaotic, sometimes all we want is a return to simplicity—and that’s exactly what Logic delivers on his latest track, “Old Logic.”
This is boom-bap at its finest. Over a beat laced with gritty DJ scratches and a moody backdrop that’s darker than Pascal Siakam, Logic taps into the style that made us fans in the first place. He raps about the streets and artists who raised him, and of course, his superior skills on the mic.
His flow is surgical, probably the standout element of the song. But what really shines is his sneaky-good punchlines and clever wordplay—hallmarks of the “old” Logic fans came up on.
If there’s one gripe, it’s the weird sound effects tossed in toward the end. They feel a bit out of place and slightly cheapen the experience. Still, that minor misstep doesn’t erase the impact or nostalgia this track delivers.
Logic says n***a a lot these days. It sounds weird.
