Kendrick Lamar Dominates BET Awards with Multiple Wins, Solidifying His Reign as Hip-Hop’s Greatest

Kendrick Lamar proved once again why he’s hip-hop royalty—winning big at the BET Awards in his hometown and leaving the competition in the dust.

When you search for the word “winner,” Kendrick Lamar’s face should instantly appear. Since releasing “Not Like Us,” Kendrick has racked up multiple Grammy Awards, delivered one of the most-watched Super Bowl halftime shows in history, and dominated both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. Yet, he’s clearly not done winning.

Last night at the BET Awards—held in Kendrick’s hometown of Los Angeles—he took home a slew of prestigious honors: Album of the Year, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year for “Not Like Us,” Video Director of the Year, and Best Collaboration with SZA for “30 for 30.” What’s even more impressive? Kendrick actually showed up to accept his awards, breaking a streak of rare appearances.

Other Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) artists also celebrated big wins, with Doechii claiming Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and SZA winning Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. While some may speculate about BET’s motivations, the truth is these awards were well-earned.

If Kendrick Lamar released music more frequently, he might already be considered the greatest rapper of all time. Even with fewer drops, he remains firmly in the conversation as one of hip-hop’s all-time legends.
