Will Smith Drops “Pretty Girls”

I don’t know how to feel about this one.

Will Smith released his new single “Pretty Girls” on June 13th, and honestly, it’s a bit of a throwback—and not always in the best way. The track feels like an early 2000s club anthem with an older-man vibe, mostly focused on admiring, well… pretty girls. That’s about 90% of the song’s content.

The other 10% tries to touch on inclusivity, with Will saying race and other factors don’t matter because “most” girls are pretty to him. But the way it’s delivered feels off—some might even call it borderline misogynistic or at least a little desperate. It definitely didn’t land well with me or even my boyfriend, who jokingly said, “Will, my man, what is this?”

Despite all that, “Pretty Girls” has a catchy hook and, for better or worse, it’s going to be stuck in my head all day—which might have been the point after all.

Nothing screams “I’m a homo” more than a song trying to prove you’re not a homo
