5. Change
From the very first note, “Change” hits like a gut punch. Stripped back and emotionally raw, the track explores the pain of separation from someone you desperately tried to hold onto. It’s about being thrust into transformation before you’re ready—mourning what was while trying to make peace with what’s next. YUNGBLUD leans into the nostalgia, honoring the joy of the past while allowing space for sadness to breathe. It’s a song about letting go, not with bitterness, but with honesty and grace. Quietly devastating, “Change” is a reminder that healing starts with feeling everything.
4. Lovesick Lullaby
“Lovesick Lullaby” is pure chaos in the best way—like 90s alt-rock colliding with Olivia Rodrigo’s “Brutal.” Fierce, fast, and sharply relatable, it captures the feeling of chasing quick fixes just to feel something. It’s about knowingly making bad decisions for a hit of serotonin, riding the high even when you know it’s a crash waiting to happen. YUNGBLUD nails the messiness of it all with biting honesty and a touch of humor—the kind that makes you laugh because, well, it’s a little too real. From the first note, the story grips you and doesn’t let go.
3. Hello, Heaven Hello
Opening the album with bold vulnerability, “Hello Heaven, Hello” dives straight into the heart of identity and purpose. YUNGBLUD gets introspective, asking raw, existential questions like “Do you want to feel alive?” and “Are you trying?” The track’s 8-minute runtime is an emotional ride—an up-tempo rock ballad that showcases his vocal and musical range without losing its message. Urgent and unfiltered, it’s a call to action: you may not know if there’s a tomorrow, so show up as your true self today.
2. War
“War” is a breakup song that hurts—deeply, honestly, and without apology. It’s the sound of loving someone so much it makes you ache, even when everything is falling apart. The track captures that cruel tension between wanting to lash out and still choosing love, no matter how broken you feel. YUNGBLUD’s voice is soft, almost shattered, and achingly beautiful throughout. There’s nothing subtle about the pain here—it rips you open and leaves you raw. It’s one of those songs you put on repeat just to feel understood, even if it wrecks you every single time.
1. Zombie
I first clicked play on “Zombie” because Florence Pugh was in the video—but I stayed for the heartbreak. This alt-rock ballad reveals a softer, more vulnerable side of YUNGBLUD as he explores the ache of impending loss. It’s about knowing something is slipping away, feeling it in real time, and bracing for the emotional fallout. The track is steeped in grief, with simple lyrics that cut deep and linger long after the last note. Raw, haunting, and achingly human, “Zombies” is a powerful meditation on love, loss, and the quiet devastation in between.

Doncaster singer-songwriter Dominic Harrison, better known as YUNGBLUD, is back with a new project. IDOLS marks his highly anticipated fourth studio album and serves as part one of a double album, with part two expected later this year. He’s currently touring the U.S. on his “IDOLS” tour.
The album leans heavily into alternative rock, drawing influence from classic ’80s and ’90s rock, as well as modern-day pop. Even though it’s my first time hearing it, IDOLS gives me a deep sense of comfort and nostalgia.
Throughout the album, YUNGBLUD explores heavy, emotional topics. He has a way of expressing things with raw honesty—elegant but never sugarcoated—and it hits you right in the heart every time. There’s something in this album for everyone: a lesson, a laugh, or simply the comfort of feeling understood.
IDOLS stands apart from Dominic’s previous work, and I believe it’s going to make a lasting impact.
