From diss tracks to Instagram sleuths, Drake’s abs are now the unexpected center of hip-hop controversy—welcome to Ab-gate!
Of all the insults thrown Drake’s way in the last few years—from accusations of being out of touch to getting dragged in bar-for-bar beefs—the most unexpected might be the “fake abs” allegations. First lobbed by both Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar in their diss records, the claims suggested that the 6 God’s shredded midsection might not be the result of intense workouts, but something a little… cosmetic.
Most fans laughed it off. After all, fake abs? That’s not exactly a common procedure—at least not one anyone thought applied to one of hip-hop’s biggest stars.
But Ab-gate got a fresh injection of life this week, thanks to a new Instagram post from Drake. In the photo, Drake poses shirtless in front of a mirror, with a lineup of liquor bottles in the foreground. The caption reads:
“I’m wide awake for the nights that separate the type who get to it til they get it right from the type who just …type.”
Cool flex, sure. But it wasn’t the caption or the bottles that grabbed attention—it was his abs.
To some fans, Drake’s midsection looked suspiciously too sharp, almost like a scene from a Marvel movie or fitness commercial. Twitter and Instagram users quickly began dissecting the photo, with zoom-ins and theories flying everywhere.
To be fair, the post also features a short clip of Drake jogging—proof, perhaps, that he does work out. But in a post-beef world where every bar and body part gets scrutinized, the internet isn’t letting this one go easily.
Is it dumb? Absolutely. Are we talking about it? Also yes.
At the end of the day, whether Drake’s abs are genetically blessed, gym-earned, or cosmetically enhanced doesn’t really matter, especially considering he’s Drake. Still, Ab-gate proves that in 2025, not even your torso is safe from the discourse.
