A casual comment from T-Pain just lit a fuse: now Drake, Chubbs, and even Chris Brown are caught in one of hip-hop’s pettiest feuds yet.
One of the most unexpected—and strangely entertaining—rap beefs of the year has just erupted between T-Pain and Drake, and it’s already spiraling into a full-blown saga involving longtime affiliates and major artists.
It all started when T-Pain, during a recent interview, offered a candid take on Drake’s current status in the rap game. The auto-tune pioneer suggested that Drake should “take his own advice” and begin to gracefully bow out of music, hinting that the 6 God’s best days might be behind him.
Drake didn’t let the remark slide. In response, the Toronto superstar claimed that T-Pain “never liked” him, dismissing the comment as coming from someone who was never in his corner to begin with.
That’s when things took a turn toward petty.
Drake’s longtime friend and OVO enforcer Chubbs—often considered the Draymond Green of Drake’s camp—took to Instagram with some not-so-subtle shade aimed at T-Pain. In two posts, Chubbs filmed himself in a club, asking the DJ to play some T-Pain. The DJ reportedly brushed off the request. Chubbs then followed up with a post showing a list of the top-streaming hip-hop artists, pointedly highlighting that T-Pain’s name was nowhere to be found.
Not everyone is here for the shade, though. Chris Brown took to Instagram to support T-Pain, calling him a “GOAT” and adding, “I love you, bro.” Though I don’t believe this means Chris Brown is shading Drake at all, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to see round three between those two light-skinned artists.
As of now, Drake has remained relatively quiet on the situation, letting Chubbs do the dirty work. T-Pain, meanwhile, hasn’t offered any further comments—but knowing him, a response might come in the form of an auto-tune track or another pointed interview.
One thing’s for sure: This doesn’t count as crashing something for Chubbs.
