Diddy might be home sooner rather than later.
In a stunning turn in one of hip-hop’s most high-profile legal battles, Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty on two federal counts of transportation to engage in prostitution—one involving ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another unnamed woman—under the Mann Act.
However, in what many are calling a major legal victory, the music mogul was cleared of the far more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Each of the two counts he was convicted of carries a maximum 10-year sentence, but insiders suggest Diddy may serve little to no jail time, with sentencing still pending.
Still in custody as of now, Diddy awaits a formal sentencing hearing with the possibility of release on bond. Yet, even with the partial win, his legal and public image woes are far from over. The civil lawsuits continue to pile up, and the reputational damage from months of accusations may be harder to reverse than any prison term.
In typical fashion, 50 Cent wasted no time reacting, posting on Instagram:
“Diddy beat the Feds that boy a bad man! beat the RICO… he the Gay John Gotti.”
While the verdict has sparked fierce debate, one question continues to linger among fans and critics alike: Why is Diddy so untouchable?
