Roddy needs this album to hit.
Y’all must’ve forgot about Roddy Ricch (In my Roy Jones Jr. voice. B*tch, I know that’s bad grammar)! After a relatively quiet stretch in the spotlight, the Compton rapper has officially announced his next full-length project, The Navy Album, set to release on October 24. This marks a major return for an artist who once had the entire industry in a headlock, and fans are hoping this is the Roddy they’ve been waiting for.
Roddy Ricch exploded onto the scene with his 2019 debut, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, an album that birthed the cultural juggernaut “The Box,” along with fan favorites like “High Fashion” and “Start wit Me.” The album cemented him as one of the most promising young voices in hip-hop, balancing melodic instincts with street-smart bars and sharp production choices.
His sophomore effort, LIVE LIFE FAST, didn’t hit as much. While it had its moments, I feel like it lacked the same hunger and uniqueness that made Roddy stand out in the first place. Since then, Roddy has kept a relatively low profile, dropping the Feed Tha Streets III mixtape in 2022 and popping up for a few guest features, but largely staying out of the mainstream conversation.
With The Navy Album, expectations are high. The cryptic title hints at a possible thematic reinvention or a deeper, more layered body of work. Will Roddy return to the raw storytelling and melodic brilliance that made Please Excuse Me… a modern classic? Or will he unveil a more mature, evolved version of himself, ready to redefine his sound? Find out on Dragon Ball Z!
Put your PTO in now. October 24 is about to be a movie.
