Who needs Ye anyway?
After years of features, collaborations, and hit singles, Ty Dolla $ign is finally stepping back into the solo spotlight. The LA singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist just announced his brand-new album “TYCOON” is set to drop on September 12th—marking his first full-length solo release in nearly four years.
This project follows the success of 2020’s “Featuring Ty Dolla $ign,” a self-aware title that poked fun at his prolific feature run. That album showcased Ty’s ability to blend R&B, hip-hop, and pop across a wide range of collaborations, including Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, and more. However, it appears one major name won’t be returning for TYCOON—Kanye West.
Ty Dolla $ign and Ye previously teamed up on the Vultures trilogy, releasing Vultures 1 to commercial success last year. But after Ye’s continued controversies—including his antisemitic remarks—the two reportedly had a falling out. As a result, Vultures 3 has been scrapped, and sources say Ye will not be involved in Ty’s upcoming album.

Despite the drama, TYCOON is shaping up to be a major moment in Ty Dolla $ign’s career—possibly his most personal and autonomous effort to date. No tracklist or guest features have been revealed yet, but fans can expect his signature mix of smooth vocals, hard-hitting production, and genre-blurring energy.
Like I said before, and almost every time Ty is prepping to release an album: He needs this one to hit badly.
