TOP 5
5. Rio
J Balvin takes his lover to the river.
“Rio” starts off slow, but don’t be fooled — it’s still a vibe from the very start. The song has a great beat, and I really like how it gradually becomes a little more upbeat. It’s romantic, with mentions of Cupid, admiration for all aspects of his lover, and that VIP feeling of being with her.
4. Misterio
Love seems to be a mystery.
“Misterio” is an amazing blend of salsa and reggaeton. The song is a collaboration with the living legend Gilberto Santa Rosa—an unlikely pairing in my eyes. I love the slow beginning and the romantic feel throughout the track. It gives the album a softer tone and more dimension, moving beyond just themes of riches and parties.
3. KLK
J Balvin tries a genre-bending approach, and I say it’s going great.
“KLK” continues the theme of blending musical styles, effortlessly fusing merengue with música urbana. For context, I grew up on merengue, so this one really resonates with me. There isn’t a single moment where you’ll want to stay still—the beat is just too infectious not to dance to.
2. St. Tropez
Nothing but good vibes in St. Tropez
What can I say about “St. Tropez”? The song is just a vibe! The beat is even more captivating than the others on the album, which means more dancing, more vibing, and more good times. The braggadocious energy J Balvin brings definitely drives this track, making it as fun and infectious as it is.
1. Uuu
A collab that’s an unexpected surprise.
“Uuu” was a very interesting listen. I wasn’t expecting a collab between J Balvin and Stormzy—an artist I’d recognize anywhere. The English-Ghanaian rapper added so much to this track. Between the beat and the energy both artists bring to the table, you can’t help but move your hips and get hyped. That vibe alone solidified this song’s place as my #1 off Mixteip.

J Balvin is back with his 12th studio album (including deluxe editions), and this one feels like a true homage to his roots. Titled Mixteip, the project nods to his 2012 debut J Balvin Mix Tape, the release that helped put him on the global map. With over a decade of chart-topping success behind him, Balvin uses this album to reflect on his journey while also reinventing his sound for a new generation of listeners.
Since his debut, J Balvin has become one of the top-selling, top-performing, and most-streamed Latin artists in the world. With mega-hits like “Mi Gente” and “I Like It” alongside Bad Bunny and Cardi B, he’s played a major role in taking reggaeton from the streets of Medellín to the main stages of Coachella and global award shows. His influence has helped open doors for countless other Latin artists, and Mixteip is yet another bold statement of his continued reign in the genre.
Musically, the album is a kaleidoscope of sounds—balancing classic reggaeton rhythms with experimental blends of salsa, merengue, dancehall, and even UK grime. Tracks like “Uuu” featuring Stormzy show Balvin’s commitment to cross-continental collaboration, while others like “Misterio” with Gilberto Santa Rosa highlight his ability to bridge generations and genres. There’s a strong romantic thread running through the project as well, which gives it emotional depth beyond the usual party anthems.
With Mixteip, J Balvin proves once again why he’s a global force. The album is filled with mainstream hits in the making, infectious hooks, and enough sonic diversity to appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers. It’s a celebratory project that captures where he’s been, where he is, and where he’s headed next—cementing his legacy while still chasing the next big wave.
