“Purple Reign” picks up right where “DS2” left off.

5. Purple Reign

Whenever Metro Boomin and Future link up, it’s almost always a perfect storm. Metro knows exactly what works for Future and doesn’t bother fixing what isn’t broken. Their formula works well in “Purple Reign.”

The chorus isn’t exactly groundbreaking (shocker), but there’s real emotion behind it. At first, it sounds like Future’s pouring his heart out over a lost love—until you realize that “girlfriend” he’s longing for is probably codeine. Suddenly, the line about his heart racing takes on a much more literal meaning. Still… she might be a better match for him than Ciara ever was.

4. No Charge

This is a club anthem. A stripper-on-the-pole banger. A leg day workout track. It checks every box—and let’s be honest, who else can make a song that hits all those lanes at once?

Future knows exactly how to lock in a chorus. He stretches lines just enough to let the vibe breathe—when he hits that “noooooo charge” hook, it’s pure magic. And the verses? Honestly, who’s paying attention to the lyrics when a big booty girl’s already twerking on you? Hendrix did his job.

3. Drippin (How U Luv That)

The beat, the vibe, the style—it all sounds like classic Future. Honestly, it feels like a track he’s made a dozen times before. But let’s be real: it’s exactly what his fans want, so I’ll play along like this is the first time I’ve ever heard Future glide over a hypnotic trap beat with this kind of swagger.

What really makes this track interesting is the theme. It explores what happens when someone gets a taste of the high life—and how they carry themselves afterward. Should she play it cool, like she’s been there before? Or is it okay to be overly excited, grinning ear to ear? Either way, we know one thing you don’t do: tattoo the man’s name on your hand after just one night. (Yeah, we saw that, Blac Chyna.)

2. Inside The Mattress

However you slice it, putting either money or a girl inside a mattress is as savage as it gets.

“Inside the Mattress” stands out for a few key reasons. First off, the track features one of those club-ready, dread-shaking beats that can flip a room upside down. Future meets the production at the rim, delivering slick lyrical content that highlights his heartbreak mentality and nonstop grind. As for his flow, it is relentless, commanding, and blends seamlessly with the instrumental.

What really elevates the song is how naturally Future rides the beat, especially when the hook comes in and he leans harder into the mattress metaphor. All in all, this is one of those Future tracks that will live on forever.

1. Perkys Calling

This track feels like Future at his most honest, and I always appreciate when artists choose to keep it real. The chorus might be simple, but it’s packed with emotion—you can really feel the weight behind it. When he says the Percocet is calling him, it’s a raw window into his ongoing struggles with addiction. I depend on things in my life too (shoutout to my Crock Pot), but they’re not calling my name like that.

The beat carries a sense of urgency, and Future rides it perfectly with his flow and delivery. It’s easily one of his strongest performances on the mixtape and stands out as one of the most impactful tracks.

The mixtape follows in the footsteps of Future’s critically acclaimed DS2, offering up similar beats, flows, and subject matters. While there’sn’t much experimentation, he does weave in some clever thematic touches that demonstrate growth. Sure, the choruses and production may blur together at times, but there’s something to be said for an artist who knows his lane and sticks to it.
