Can you believe Chance The Rapper’s last major album was “The Big Day?”
Chance the Rapper has officially announced the release of his next full-length project: STAR LINE, arriving August 15th. Marking his first studio album since 2019’s The Big Day, this new era signals a fresh chapter for the Chicago-born artist—one rooted in reflection, reinvention, and that signature Chance optimism.
While details remain under wraps, fans have already begun speculating about what STAR LINE might hold. The title itself appears to be a nod to the Black Star Line—an early 20th-century shipping company founded by Marcus Garvey to empower global Black commerce and connection. If that’s any indication, this project could delve into themes of legacy, unity, and vision.

Chance has spent the past few years gradually rebuilding his musical presence, dropping lowkey singles such as “Tree,” “Quiet Storm,” and “3333,” performing live, and teasing a more thoughtful, stripped-down direction. If I were to guess, this album will have Chance doing a complete reset, which may be needed after the reception he received from The Big Day (BTW: I thought the criticisms of that album were a bit harsh).
Do you think STAR LINE will allow Chance to regain some of the magic he once had? I guess we’ll find out on August 15th.
