The Knockaround Band Won’t Be Haunted by the “Ghost of Me”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

An irresistible alternative rock gem that reminds us it’s never too late to build a brighter future.

Chicago-born pop-alternative trio The Knockaround Band brings a vibrant twist to modern pop-rock, fusing catchy melodies, driving guitar riffs, and electrifying energy. Founded by longtime friends Carleton Koldyke and Julian Stacey, the band began writing songs and performing around Chicago in 2017. After a brief hiatus, they relaunched in 2024 with the addition of guitarist Ian Harsh, whose dynamic playing helped complete their energetic sound. Drawing inspiration from artists like Maroon 5, Matchbox Twenty, and The Band CAMINO, The Knockaround Band is carving out their own lane in the alt-rock scene.

Their latest single, “Ghost of Me,” is a high-energy track that blends melodic pop-rock instrumentals with an emotionally resonant storyline. The production is crisp and radio-ready, marked by lively guitars, infectious rhythms, and an uplifting tempo that makes it an easy summer favorite.

Lyrically, the song reflects on growth and self-discovery. Lines like “Recounted the days before you, yeah stuck in the ways of a long lost boy, specter in the shape of who I was before” and “Empty thrills can’t fill the void, but you showed me something much more” touch on the transformation that comes from love, support, and leaving behind self-destructive patterns.

With its feel-good energy and introspective message, “Ghost of Me” stands as a compelling reminder that it’s never too late to grow into a better version of yourself.
