Gunna Announces “THE LAST WUN” Drops August 8

“THE LAST WUN” will be Gunna’s final release under YSL.

Gunna is officially entering a new era. The Atlanta rapper just announced that his upcoming album, THE LAST WUN, will drop this Friday, August 8, marking what he calls his final official release under YSL Records — the same label that helped launch his career but has since been surrounded by controversy, tension, and legal battles.

THE LAST WUN follows May’s Wun of Wun, a project that saw Gunna re-establish his sonic identity after distancing himself from the YSL collective. With 25 tracks on the docket, the album promises to be expansive, emotionally charged, and possibly revealing. The guest list includes Offset, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Asake, and Nechie, signaling a genre-spanning approach that blends street rap with global sounds.

This announcement comes amidst an ongoing rift between Gunna and YSL head Young Thug, who’s reportedly working on a new project of his own. Ever since Gunna’s release from jail in late 2023, rumors of snitching, loyalty shifts, and quiet unfollows have dominated the discourse. While Gunna has mostly taken the high road publicly, fans have noticed subliminals and barbed lyrics woven into his recent releases — making THE LAST WUN a likely venue for either a final airing out or a graceful exit.

Sonically, listeners can expect Gunna’s signature blend of melodic flows, luxury-laced bars, and introspective moments. But with this being a symbolic farewell to the label that shaped him, there’s a strong chance we’ll hear a more personal, maybe even vulnerable, version of Gunna. Whether this is a mic drop or a stepping stone to the next chapter, one thing is clear: THE LAST WUN is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most pivotal hip-hop releases.
