Chance The Rapper is back on top with a comeback that’s both bold and catchy.

Chance The Rapper’s latest album, STAR LINE, has made an immediate splash, earning 3.2 million streams on Spotify on its opening day. The album emerged as the top new hip-hop debut of the weekend, signaling a strong return for the Chicago rapper after the mixed reception of his 2019 project, The Big Day.

The Big Day was packed with guest appearances from heavy-hitters like Lil Wayne, Smino, Do Or Die, BJ The Chicago, Vic Mensa, Young Thug, and Joey Bada$$. While it showcased a more experimental, bar-heavy Chance, it drew some criticism for its sprawling production and inconsistent flow. STAR LINE, however, feels like a recalibration, blending Chance’s old-school charm with fresh, modern energy.

Among the standout tracks driving streams are “Drapetomania,” “No More Old Men,” and “Gun In Your Purse,” which are complemented by the early singles “Tree” and “The Highs and Lows.” These songs highlight Chance’s lyrical prowess, creativity, and ability to craft hooks that stick while still maintaining a sense of personal storytelling.

With STAR LINE, Chance The Rapper demonstrates that he can still command attention in the competitive hip-hop landscape. The album not only redeems the mixed reception of his previous work but also reminds fans why he remains one of the most inventive voices in modern rap.
