TOP 5

5. Long Nights (Ft. Thomas Rhett)

Come-up stories can come in all kinds of musical forms.

If a track like “Long Nights” doesn’t inspire you, you might need a Nick Saban-level coach to get motivated. Thomas Rhett and BigXThaPlug reflect on the struggles they overcame to reach where they are today, from navigating rough neighborhoods to avoiding shady individuals. Thomas delivers his motivational lines in a bold, edgy country style, while BigX lays down bars that are both satisfying and impactful. S**t is dope to hear.

4. Home (Ft. Shaboozey)

I’m just thankful a country-inspired album has a brother on it.

“Home” is an undeniable standout. In the track, Shaboozey delivers his signature blend of smooth, infectious vocals and down-to-earth charm, giving it a warm, familiar feel from the jump.

While the song bears BigXthaPlug’s unmistakable presence, it reveals a more introspective, tender side of the Texas rapper. His lyrics offer unexpected vulnerability, all while staying true to his core energy. The result is a mellow, emotionally rich collaboration that allows both artists to shine, anchored by Shaboozey’s glowing delivery. A refreshing surprise that hits in all the right ways.

3. Hell At Night (Ft. Ella Langley)

The Devil’s hot breath especially reeks at night.

In “Hell At Night,” Ella Langley brings unmistakable country authenticity with her cold, hard-hitting chorus, singing about the bitter desire to give her ex “hell.” Her voice perfectly balances the track’s dark energy, adding a hauntingly relatable edge to the story. Meanwhile, BigXThaPlug channels Chance The Rapper from “Baby Blue” and Andre 3000 from “Roses,” hitting us with verses about all the pain and petty revenge he wishes on a lover gone wrong. Embarrassingly, I love the approach he uses.

I used to hope my ex choked on a popcorn kernel. Is that taking it too far? Those damn popcorn kernels hurt like s**t when they get stuck in your throat.

2. Box Me Up (Ft. Jelly Roll)

Who said big boys don’t cry? Two do on this track.

In “Box Me Up,” BigXThaPlug comes across as someone deeply let down by love. He talks about giving his all, only to be disappointed by a partner who doesn’t reciprocate. While he usually keeps a cool, composed persona on his tracks, here his genuine disappointment is noticeable.

Jelly Roll complements the track with a heartfelt, roaring vocal performance, emphasizing the pain of being abandoned. His voice blends seamlessly with the emotional country-inspired instrumental, which features subtle trap elements.

BigXThaPlug’s deep vocals also stand out, adding another layer of raw emotion to the track. Together, the two artists create a dynamic and moving song that captures heartbreak with both grit and sincerity.

1. All The Way (Ft. Bailey Zimmerman)

BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman want their relationships burned to the ground.

“All The Way” is juicier than your local pollo spot’s Friday special. The duo gets honest about relationships that have run their course, boldly asking their partners to walk away if love’s no longer in the picture. At the same time, both artists reflect on how loyal they’ve been and the battles they fought to keep things together. It’s vulnerable, raw, and brutally honest.

What makes this song hit even harder is the unexpected but genius country-rap blend. The production leans into Zimmerman’s roots, featuring a country instrumental laced with acoustic melodies and emotional weight. Unsurprisingly, Zimmerman crushes his performance, delivering heartfelt vocals dripping in twang and pain.

As for BigXthaPlug, he doesn’t miss a step. His gritty delivery, relentless flow, and urgency feel right at home even in a more country-fied space. Overall, the chemistry on this track is outstanding.

RGM RATING

(86%)

On I Hope You’re Happy, BigXThaPlug delivers a heartbreak album unlike any other. Each track carries some country influence—whether through instruments or twangy melodies—while his signature trap energy keeps the project grounded and urgent. It’s a bold fusion that feels organic rather than forced.

The album dives deep into the spectrum of love and loss. BigXThaPlug and his featured artists explore bitterness, pettiness, betrayal, and moving on, making for an emotionally compelling experience. Some tracks also focus on resilience, showcasing a vulnerability rarely seen from him. With standout choruses and contributions from country’s finest, the album hits hard emotionally.

What’s most impressive is how BigXThaPlug balances his own artistry with the genre’s influence. He doesn’t sacrifice his signature style to fit the country backdrop; instead, he merges the two seamlessly, delivering heartfelt performances that are both authentic and experimental.

The collaborations shine, too. BigXThaPlug lets his features fully express themselves, resulting in a project that feels like a true genre fusion done correctly. It’s liberating, impressive, and a masterclass in blending styles while maintaining artistic integrity.
